Abstract


For students of media, knowing how to create websites is essential for career success. I present here a syllabus for an introductory web design course, taught from a mass communication perspective. In the course, students design two websites, both a personal website and a website for a local client. This syllabus is for the online version of the course. I discuss ways in which a technical subject like web design was adapted to the online environment. This syllabus should be of interest not only to those who teach courses in media, but also those who need direction in teaching online.
