Abstract

The Legal Environment of Higher Education is a required course in the Doctor of Education program for those students enrolled in the Higher Education Administration concentration.  The primary student audience is mid-career professionals who work in colleges and universities, and who have elected to pursue a doctoral degree in a program that is primarily online. The course is designed to expose students to the vast range of administrative problems at the college and university level that have legal implications. Additionally, the course provides the students an opportunity to practice problem solving skills and to understand the importance of deliberate inquiry to articulate and resolve complex problems of practice.
